Success at the coverted NHBC Awards

Legal & General Modular homes win three coveted NHBC awards.

Michael Cane, Site Manager at Legal & General Modular Homes’ Portholme development in Selby, scooped up three awards at the National House Builders Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards in front of an audience of sector peers at an award ceremony in Leeds last week.  Legal & General Modular Homes won a Pride in the Job Award, Seal of Excellence Award and Regional Award for Medium House Builder.

Michael Cane, Site Manager, said: “This is a real milestone for our team on site and at our modular build factory in Sherburn.  This is LGMH’s first modular development and we’re the first modular builder to be recognised under the scheme.  It’s particularly significant this year as the whole industry has faced challenging times due to the Pandemic.  Our team and our subcontractors have really pulled together – we’re all really proud.”

Organised by NHBC, the UK’s leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes, the awards are the most highly regarded in the house building industry. They recognise site managers dedicated to achieving the highest standards in house building and committed to building homes of outstanding quality for their customers.

Judging for the Awards is rigorous, with each site manager assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.

Over four decades, Pride in the Job has underpinned NHBC’s core purpose of supporting the delivery of high-quality homes. By recognising the very best site managers across the UK, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence, the competition celebrates the vital role that site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites and to exacting construction quality standards.

Commenting on the Awards, NHBC Chief Executive, Steve Wood said: “Pride in the Job has been pivotal in improving the quality of new homes for more than 40 years and, after such a tough period for the country, it’s fantastic to be able to celebrate them in person this year. Despite the numerous challenges the industry has faced, the very best site managers of 2021 have remained focused on delivering high quality new homes for their customers.

“A site manager’s role is one of the most challenging in house building and recognising their persistent drive for excellence is very much at the heart of the competition. Receiving a Seal of Excellence Award is a great achievement for any site manager and a Regional Award even more so, placing them at the top of their profession. It’s no surprise that Pride in the Job winning sites have higher levels of customer satisfaction. The homes being built are amongst the best the UK has to offer.”

“Congratulations to all the 2021 Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence and Regional Award winners – you are building the future, be proud of your achievements!”

The Regional award winners will now go forward to compete for the ultimate prize in house building, the Pride in the Job Supreme Awards which will be unveiled at a gala ceremony in London in January 2022.

Portholme is LGMH’s 102 home scheme in the heart of Selby.  The new neighbourhood offers a mix of high-quality energy efficient 2/3-bedroom houses and 1/2-bedroom apartments, 30% of which are shared ownership and rented.

Legal & General Modular Homes is also building at Bonnington, Bristol.
